Personal Support Worker

Health care is moving more towards individuals remaining in their homes for elder care or surgery and illness recovery in order to save medical costs. This has increased the demand for Personal Support Workers.

24 Week Diploma Program

The graduate is trained to pursue a career in health care in either a community or institutional setting. Alternative career paths would include childcare facilities, doctor's offices, senior recreational facilities, hospices, etc.

Upon successful completion of the program students will write the Provincial Certification exam through the National Association of Career Colleges.

Clinical Practicum - 10 weeks Individuality of The Person Interpersonal Workplace Skills Skills Role of the Worker Safety Assisting a Person with Mobility Household Management & Meal Preparation Cognitive Impairment & Mental Health Issues Assisting the Family Assisting a Person with Personal Hygiene Providing Optimal Support and Care Planning Assisting a Person to Manage Ongoing Conditions Assisting with Medications Abuse Assisting a Person Who is Dying CPR and First Aid Certification
